Morrow County Parks Stargazing Event April 17th –19th, 2026
Morrow County Parks invites families, outdoor enthusiasts, and night-sky lovers to experience the beauty of Oregon’s star filled skies during the Inaugural Morrow County Stargazing Event, taking place April 17th – 19th, 2026 at the Morrow County OHV Park. Held during International Dark Sky Week (April 13th – 20th), the event offers a unique opportunity to gather under some of the region’s darkest skies for a weekend of exploration, learning, and outdoor adventure.

Located in eastern Oregon, Morrow County OHV Park sits just within the largest dark skies area in the state. The area offers exceptional viewing conditions thanks to minimal light pollution and thoughtful local lighting practices. This helps create a welcoming environment for observing stars, planets, and other celestial wonders stretching across Oregon’s high desert sky.
Guests are encouraged to bring their own telescopes, binoculars, cameras, and stargazing equipment for an immersive nighttime experience. The Tri-Cities Astronomy Club will also be on site throughout the weekend, offering engaging astronomy presentations and bringing telescopes for attendees to use. Their volunteers will help visitors identify constellations, planets, and other celestial highlights, making the experience enjoyable for both beginners and seasoned stargazers.
Visitors can choose from several accommodation options, including full hook-up RV sites, standard campsites, and comfortable on-site cabins. Modern restroom facilities and showers will be open and available for guests throughout the weekend.
During the day, visitors can enjoy presentations on star gazing, explore the park’s miles of scenic trails while taking in sweeping views of the surrounding landscape. Wildlife viewing opportunities and the peaceful high desert setting add to the park’s natural appeal.

To preserve the quiet atmosphere needed for stargazing, the OHV main campground will be closed to ATV use.
This family friendly event offers a memorable way to connect with nature, learn more about astronomy, and experience one of Oregon’s premier locations for stargazing.
